Greg Sengelmann was awarded an Honorary Membership to the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts (TAGD) at the TAGD business meeting in San Antonio by a unanimous vote on August 31, 2021.

Greg Sengelmann served as the General Manager of Gonzales County Underground Water Conservation District (GCUWCD) for 13 years. In this role he managed groundwater in a rapidly-growing area of Texas, including challenges related to brackish groundwater development and the new Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Mid-Basin Project. Greg is a registered Professional Geoscientist. Prior to joining the Texas groundwater community, he worked at Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and in several other environmental management positions.

Sengelmann has been a valued member of the TAGD Executive Committee for a number of years. Prior to his retirement, he served as the Secretary and has represented the Upper Carrizo Area. While he will be missed in TAGD and at his district, he looks forward to dove hunting, gardening, and RV camping with his wife Deedee in his retirement.

The Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts supports Texas groundwater conservation districts and their efforts to conserve, preserve, and protect groundwater. TAGD provides educational and technical assistance to member districts and the public, serves as a resource on groundwater issues with state officials, assists members in keeping current with state law, and is a central point of contact for information on groundwater issues and practices.
