Laws Governing GCDs

TAGD District Members are political subdivisions and conservation and reclamation districts created pursuant to Article III, section 52 or Article XVI, section 59 of the Texas Constitution. As such, they are governed by Texas law, including Chapter 35 and Chapter 36 of the Texas Water Code (these links go to the State’s official “Texas Constitution and Statutes” website and have been updated with the changes made by the 84th Legislature), the administrative rules of the Texas Water Development Board, and the administrative rules of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. TAGD District Members are also governed by state laws related to political subdivisions, including laws related to open government and public information, ethics, and voting.

TAGD District Members are also governed by their own District rules. You can obtain copies of individual district rules by visiting district websites or contacting individual districts.
